DTI Baguio ' Benguet recognizes its 2020 top performing clients

BAGUIO CITY, Jan. 17 (PIA) - - The Department of Trade and Industry Baguio - Benguet Office here recognized its top performing clients for fiscal year 2020 in awarding ceremonies last week.

DTI Provincial Director Atty. Samuel Gallardo and DTI Cordillera Regional Director Myrna Pablo led the giving of recognition to the City Government of Baguio and the municipal local government units of La Trinidad, Sablan and Tublay in Benguet for notable performance in the 2020 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI), a DTI program with the National Competitiveness Council that measures competitiveness in governance.

Baguio City ranked 19th overall in Competitiveness and 18th in the Infrastructure Pillar for the Highly Urbanized Cities Category.

La Trinidad ranked 8th overall on Competitiveness, 2nd in Economic Dynamism and 19th in the Resiliency Pillar in the 1st to 2nd class municipalities category.

Sablan LGU ranked 12th in the Resiliency Pillar and 11th overall in Competitiveness among 3rd to 6th class municipalities, while Tublay ranked 11th overall in Competitiveness and 6th in Government Efficiency Pillar in the 3rd to 6th class municipalities category.

Also commended are Saint Louis University students Harold Cadoy, Val Christian Cabacungan and Melissa Patano for bagging second place in the national level of the e-Comics Contest during the October 2020 celebration of Consumer Welfare Month.

Recognized for Kapatid Mentor Me, Best in Business Improvement Plan are Heidi Laygo and Joyce Dulnuan of Baguio City, and Nelson Palispis and Sahrene Albuera of Benguet - Provincial level. Dulnuan is also the regional awardee in this category.

For their notable performance in the 2020 Virtual IMPAKABSAT, cited are Trade Fair Best Booths winners Everything is Pine (non - food) and Mad - Ava Food Trading (food) and Best Performing Exhibitors - JBV Homemade Products (food) and Mondiguing Woodcraft and Souvenir Shop (non - food).

DTI also honoured top performers in the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) namely, Business Pitch competition grand champion Aulivia Joy Ong of Fiest Chills Milktea Shop and runner - ups Tyrone Dan Rulian of Clayzy Handicrafts, both from Benguet, and Sean Ernest Empizo of Empitech Contacts, Joseph Manuel Antolin of The Fix Coffee and Abean Coffee for Baguio City.

Gallardo congratulated all the awardees for their dedication, commitment and perseverance to succeed and excel amid the Coronavirus pandemic and other challenges in 2020, as he also assured the DTI's continuing support through its programs and services this year and beyond.

"This recognition, we hope, will inspire you to keep the fire burning so that we can do even better this year. I am confident that the experience we went through can only serve to teach us lessons on resilience, innovation, and foresightedness, which is what we need to be better in the next months and years, as we rebuild, reinvent and rejuvenate our businesses and organizations. To all of our awardees, I say congratulations for jobs well done! We can't wait to see what you do in 2021!" Gallardo said.

In the same event, DTI also led the awarding of semi-expendable equipment to women's organization under the Great Women Project 2 and to beneficiaries of Livelihood Seeding Program under the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
